The Jasionka Airport to Receive Over 31 Million Euros from European Funds
The Rzeszów-Jasionka Ulma Family Airport will receive over 31 million PLN from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, and Environment (FEnIKS) program to support three key investment projects.
These projects, totaling over 50 million PLN, will enhance passenger and cargo services and improve fire safety standards. Of the nine projects selected for funding under the FEnIKS program, three were submitted by Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport, with two receiving the highest evaluations among all applications.
“I am very pleased that the airport's proposals received such high marks in this program, and that the European Commission will provide over 30 million PLN to support them. These projects will significantly improve airport safety, making it strategically important not only for the region but also globally” - said Władysław Ortyl, Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, which is the airport’s main shareholder.
“I would like to sincerely thank my colleagues for their hard work and professional preparation of these crucial projects. Their implementation will greatly enhance safety and improve passenger and cargo service efficiency” - added Adam Hamryszczak, President of the airport in Jasionka.
Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport will receive funding for three projects under the "Aviation Infrastructure TEN-T" section of the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, and Environment Program (2021-2027), coordinated by the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy.
Up to 18.7 million PLN has been allocated from European funds for the construction of a new entry to the restricted zone of the Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport, with a total estimated project cost of 25 million PLN.
An additional 8.9 million PLN (6.7 million PLN of which is EU funding) will go toward operational safety improvements – the modernization of the central security control checkpoint. As part of this upgrade, the Ulma Family Airport will become one of the first regional airports in Poland to be equipped with innovative scanners meeting EU EDSCB C3 standards, which will streamline baggage scanning and passenger service.
Another project will involve the acquisition of two new fire and rescue vehicles (one heavy-duty and one medium-duty) to enhance the airport's fire safety measures. The total value of this project is estimated at over 7.5 million PLN (with 5.5 million PLN of EU funding).
It is worth noting that the airport itself will allocate approximately 20 million PLN from its own funds for these investments. The projects are scheduled to be completed between 2024 and 2027.
