Next to the airport, construction of the LOTAMS base has begun
On 21 September 2023, in the area adjacent to Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport, the construction of the largest investment in the history of the Polish leader in aircraft maintenance, LOTAMS, began. This marked the ceremonial inauguration of the construction phase of the base located in the Podkarpacie region, which will accept the first aircraft in 21 months.
As Adam Hamryszczak, CEO of Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport, stated during his inaugural speech at Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport: - The LOTAMS technical base in Jasionka is a strategic investment that increases the potential of our airport in the aviation market and is an important element in the diversification of the company’s revenue sources. It is worth emphasizing that this project would not be possible without the initiative and direct involvement of Władysław Ortyl, Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, and the decisions that were made within the government administration under the direction of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
Preparations for this investment had been underway for several years. LOTAMS already owns the necessary land (approx. 10 hectares), has obtained all required permits and has established cooperation with entities responsible for completing the investment. At the beginning of September this year, the company selected the general contractor and signed an agreement with the consortium consisting of Polimex Mostostal and Polimex Infrastruktura Sp. z o.o.
Marshal Władysław Ortyl, thanking for the location of the investment in Podkarpacie, said: - This is a place prepared for this. We have the aviation DNA, the qualified staff, and institutional preparation. The dynamic development that is taking place in Podkarpacie is proof of this. And I believe this is a good decision.
Władysław Ortyl recalled that the process of creating such important investments is always long, but it is time to celebrate and show the world that this project is being built in Podkarpacie. At the same time, he declared further support: - We assure you that further work and cooperation will take place in good conditions.
The Marshal also emphasized that today the importance of Jasionka Airport has changed significantly and this investment is becoming even more important.
The construction of the base will be financed mainly with funds from the recapitalisation of the company by the Polish Aviation Group . Its value is estimated at PLN 216 million. This will be one of the largest investments carried out in the Aviation Valley Association in Podkarpacie.
The project includes: the construction of a maintenance hangar with a usable area of nearly 13,000 square metres, a pre-hangar slab and a building serving as a workshop, technical, social and office facilities. The hangar will have two slots for base maintenance of wide-body aircraft, which can also be adapted to accommodate smaller aircraft. This will allow us to perform maintenance checks of LOT Polish Airlines’ heavy Boeing 787s.
On Thursday on the site of the future investment, the first sod was turned. Aleksandra Juda, CEO of LOTAMS, states that: - This day will be inscribed permanently into the history of our company and the European aviation industry. The turning of the first sod should be a symbol of our determination, hard work and commitment to creating the future of aviation in Europe. Together we will build something that will become a source of pride for us and the entire industry. This investment is also our contribution to the development of European aviation infrastructure, which is important in the context of changing challenges related to air transport. We are proud that we can contribute to improving the quality and efficiency of aviation services in the Polish and the European markets. I would like to thank all the people involved for their work and the support of the Polish Aviation Group. It is thanks to you that we can implement our vision and transform it into reality.
The event was attended by: Deputy Minister of State Assets Maciej Małecki, Vice-President of the Polish Aviation Group Katarzyna Lewandowska, Member of the management board of LOT Polish Airlines Dorota Dmuchowska, and Parliament Member Krzysztof Sobolewski.
